One Billionaire Builds. The Other Brings the Chainsaw.

Elon Musk recently responded, “Sadly, yes,” to a claim that Jeff Bezos’ former wife, MacKenzie Scott, has donated more than $26 billion and that it’s somehow making the world worse.
That’s a curious take considering Scott has quietly become one of the most influential philanthropists of our time. Her unrestricted gifts have strengthened thousands of nonprofits, expanded educational opportunities, supported food banks, medical research, disaster relief, and helped fund numerous Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).
While MacKenzie Scott has spent her fortune lifting communities, Musk has become better known for wielding a metaphorical chainsaw against government programs and institutions he argues should be cut. One billionaire is writing checks to libraries, schools, and charities. The other seems more interested in writing pink slips.
You don’t have to agree with every cause Scott supports, but it’s difficult to argue that feeding the hungry, educating students, supporting hospitals, and funding community organizations makes the world a worse place.
Perhaps the world could use a little less outrage and a little more generosity. History has a way of remembering which one leaves the better legacy.
