Flexible work models are having a transformative effect, not only empowering women but also leveling the playing field and fostering diversity and inclusion.
Hybrid work models are having a transformative influence on women in the workforce, not only empowering them, but also leveling the playing field, and fostering diversity and inclusion in workplaces across the country.
Key findings from IWG’s Advancing Equality: Women in the Hybrid Workplace U.S. 2024 Survey indicate that 68% of American women said they have benefited from hybrid working, with 65% acknowledging that it has created new opportunities within their careers.
Additionally, the findings from the report show how hybrid working has helped level the playing field for career prospects (64%) and empowered women to apply for or be promoted to a more senior role (54%).
“The latest findings from IWG are revealing a trend where women, particularly from a range of diverse backgrounds, are actively shaping their careers around the flexibility that hybrid working offers,” said IWG Chief Commercial Officer Fatima Koning. “This shift is not only enhancing work/life balance but also fostering a wealth of new professional opportunities.”
The data also reveals many perceived benefits of the working model when it comes to increasing diversity and inclusivity within the workforce. Sixty-four percent of respondents said hybrid work has made their job more inclusive, and nearly three-quarters (74%) said it has made office jobs more viable for people with disabilities.
In addition, 73% of respondents said that in comparison to purely remote work, a hybrid role offers workers an opportunity to be seen, allowing for greater recognition. But the flexibility of hybrid working is key, with 60% of respondents saying they would consider leaving their job if they were asked to work from the office five days a week.
