A robotic barista is now serving coffee to travelers passing through San Francisco International Airport.
Coffee Haus opened this month at SFO’s Terminal 3 near gate 72. The kiosk — something of a glorified vending machine — can make up to 100 drinks per hour, according to Briggo, the Texas company that runs it.
Customers can order their drink ahead using the Briggo mobile app or at the kiosk using touchscreens.
Cafe X already has three locations in San Francisco. A mechanical arm serves up the brew.
The SFO location “will have an expanded menu and an even faster, friendly dancing robot barista,” Henry Hu, CEO and Founder of Cafe X, said in a statement.
Briggo plans to add more locations in the Bay Area over the next two years. It operates two Coffee Haus kiosks in Austin-Bergstrom International Airport and has other locations in Texas.
Briggo CEO Kevin Nater said in a statement that the company was honored to bring its product “to such a vibrant, tech-savvy city as we quickly expand our presence throughout the Bay Area and beyond.”
Lattes are the most popular drink at SFO, the company said in a tweet.
