It Takes A ‘Digital Village’: Helpr Launches On-demand Babysitting

Valentine’s Day is a month away, folks. Time to make plans for your romantic evenings.

For parents, that includes finding a babysitter on one of the busiest nights of the year. Helpr is here to, well, help.

The Los Angeles startup launched its on-demand childcare app today. The platform delivers vetted babysitters to your door in as few as three hours. The service has debuted in Los Angeles, Orange County and Santa Barbara.

Helpr’s “digital village” of childcare providers are rigorously screened with in-person interviews, phone reference checks, CPR certification, background checks and client reviews. Co-founders Kasey Edwards and Becka Klauber Richter have worked in the industry for eight years as co-founders of the boutique childcare service University Sitters.

“Helpr is unique in that we are combining the convenience of a true on-demand childcare app with extensive experience in the family space,” Edwards said in a statement. “While other apps might enable you to put out a request for a sitter, Helpr guarantees a caregiver, who has been interviewed in person and has passed a demanding screening process, will show up at your doorstep when needed.”

The startup also works with corporations to offer childcare services for sick care, during mandatory overtime and at company retreats and parties.
