Critics say Trump’s glory days as the star of The Apprentice are long behind him. They argue that he inherited a strong economy from Joe Biden, only to steer it into turbulence with tariffs, policy uncertainty, and market jitters. Trump Psychiatric Ward—where the walls are gold, the mirrors only reflect approval ratings above 90%, and reality is strictly optional.
His name continues to appear on a growing list of properties, landmarks, and commercial ventures—from private skyscrapers and golf resorts to federally named facilities such as Florida’s President Donald J. Trump International Airport and the U.S. Institute of Peace headquarters in Washington.
Given that, it’s no surprise there have been efforts to attach his name to even more public places. Whether those efforts succeed often depends less on presidential ambition than on congressional approval or the legal authority governing the property.
With Republicans currently controlling Congress, proposals to rename federal buildings and facilities may have a clearer path forward. If the political landscape changes after the midterm elections, that window could narrow, perhaps explaining the recent flurry of naming proposals.
