7 Great Apps I Use That You Don’t Use… Yet

There are some apps that come up on everyone’s list, phone, or system, but I really like to keep exploring.

Every now and again, one of those apps piques my interest, retains it, or gives me something that I think is missing elsewhere. The strangest of things can do it because sometimes it is simply a better UI that can make all the difference.

So here are the 7 apps that I use that I imagine very few of you use if any.

(1) Structured — Starting strong with this one. Have you heard of it? Have you actually tried it, let alone paid for the upgraded version? Didn’t think so. But this is essentially a to-do app with a focus on…. scheduling. Correct. 10 points for you. But it comes with a lovely layout and was actually recommended to me by someone who has never used to-do lists or task managers ever before, so maybe that will work for you.

(2) Highland 2 — This is a great writing app on Mac. I love it. I have used others such as iA Writer, Scrivener, and Ulysses, but Highland 2 is where I have landed. Lovely formatting and templating. Nice custom themes. I just like it. But you will very rarely see it on anyone’s lists or “top” videos, and I think that is unjustified.

(3) Deezer — Yes, I am already cheating a little. Deezer is well used but is simply nowhere near as popular as other music streaming services.

(4) Lucid — A book summary app that uses graphics and animations to help explain the concepts of a book. It is different, and that is enough for me. Sometimes it is easier to see the concept rather than imagine it, and sometimes seeing something acted out can deepen or test your understanding far more than just words. This is definitely worth a try.

(5) Taskade — Another slight cheat but when you compare its user base to other to-do or project apps, this really is far less used. As with all great tools, this becomes more useful the more you use it, and for me, its primary use is planning content production. One really simple thing that I love is assigning specific dates to a subtask. You can do a lot more, but this one thing is a great example of how this is a truly great tool if only you give it a try.

(6) Sync cloud storage — Yet again, used by plenty, but compared to Google and Apple’s cloud storage? Absolutely minimal. If you want to move your storage away from these goliaths, Sync.com is probably the place to go, and it really is their specialty, so they know what they are doing.

(7) Just Timers — The built-in timer app on iOS is not enough for me. Just Timers works exactly as it should. If you sat down to imagine how a multiple-timer app should work, you would probably picture this. It is so simple to use but, a really effective tool. It is the kind of tool that you don’t realize just how useful it is until you actually use it. Just try it and I am sure that it will stay on your phone for a long time to come.
